The Transition Support Service is committed to preparing and supporting remote * Indigenous students and their families as they move through the phases of transition from primary to secondary schooling.
* In the pilot phase of the Transition Support Service project students from remote communities of Cape York, Northern Peninsula Area and Torres Strait are targeted. TSS Service Commitment to strengthen Indigenous transitions
Service Commitment Evolving
Support for students in transition from secondary school to work, further training or further study is an evolving dimension of Transition Support Services. Currently Transition Support Services supports: - Aurukun students in the senior phase attending boarding schools throughout Queensland to take up employment opportunities with Rio Tinto Alcan through partnerships with the Rio Tinto Alcan/Western Cape College Forum.
- Cape York, Northern Peninsula Area and Torres Strait students in boarding schools throughout Queensland who are Performing Arts oriented or interested to transition to Performing Arts training destinations (ACPA / NAISDA / WAPAA) or Performing Arts career pathways (PArts Support Strategy).
